The Teen Zone

There is a dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity.  It is the middle ground between child and adult, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of a parent’s fears and the summit of their patience. This is the dimension of self-discovery.  A dimension not only of growth and maturity, but of endless hunger.  It is a journey of a terrifying quest for independence, into a place not only of bad smells and sounds but of endless laundry.  A journey which takes you through a door into a mysterious land of defiance and attitude.  You approach this door with trepidation.  Beyond it is another dimension – a dimension of friends, a dimension of online games, a dimension of attitude.  You’re moving into a land of both moodiness and deceptive glimpses of familiarity, of things and ideas not your own.  You’ve just crossed over into the Teen Zone.

To My Valentine

Love is in the air!  It’s the time of year when hearts are open and romantic gestures abound.  I’m not a big believer in Valentines Day, per se, but I do love “love”!  I’ve created a new collection that’s all about expressing yourself to the one you love.  For me, it’s in the little every day details… for example, I recently had a tire that was losing air.  I didn’t have to ask, but hubby took my tire in and had it fixed for me.  Not a big deal, but it saved me from finding a flat tire one morning!  What’s your favorite way to show someone you love that they’re special?

This week brings us to the halfway point of our 16th birthday celebrations.  We have two incredible free with purchase offers for you this weekend, including a brand new featured designer freebie, and our fabulous 16th Birthday mega-collection, Let Them Eat Cake!

And just one last thing to point out… take a peek at the very end of this post to see another project of mine.  Sometimes I like to step away from the computer and do something creative with my hands!

I thought I wouldn’t have many pages to show off with this because I was working on it right up until this morning!  But man, did these ladies ever knock it out of the park!  The first page is mine, from my Honeymoon in Waikiki back in 2008.

Do you ever feel the need to step away from the computer and just get your hands dirty?  I sure do!  When I get the urge to do something crafty I grab a fun project from Homeworks Etc.  They’re a little DIY craft shop here in my town, but they ship all over the US and Canada.  They offer up so many really fun wood projects that you can paint… and all the supplies you need are included!  How awesome is that?  The shop also sells some beautiful home decor items as well, if you just want to add a few pretty touches here and there.

Homeworks Etc. has some monthly subscription options if you want to be able to decorate with themed items on a monthly basis.  I won’t lie… I subscribe to them all!  Check out the photos below to see this month’s projects.

Aren’t those awesome?  I highly encourage you to try it out for yourself!!!  Oh, and I noticed as I was posting these that they totally match my new collection… it was just a coincidence, I promise!  But a happy one… now I’m going to scrap a page about it!

Hear Me Roar and FWP!

Happy Chinese New Year!  This is is the Year of the Tiger, and so I thought I’d put a fun twist on the theme.  Hear Me Roar is all about kids learning to find their voice and be uniquely them!  It’s such an important lesson to learn, and so wonderful to see happen.

This week we continue with our 16th Birthday celebrations with a Buy This / Get That promotion.  And who doesn’t love to get something for free???  Pick up the kit, Hear Me Roar, you’ll get the pocket cards for free!

Of course, you can still buy the Pocket Cards on their own, but why would you want to???  The bundle will be available for sale after the weekend, but for now it’s a way better deal to just add the individual products to your cart… just remember not to add the Pocket Cards since they’re included with the Kit this weekend!

Temptations 6

Happy Friday!  This week begins our sixteenth birthday celebrations over at Sweet Shoppe.  Party Game-a-Day is back Feb. 1st with lots of fun and we’ll also have a couple of gorgeous collabs for you to collect.  We’re kicking things off this week with a Storewide Sale… 40% off everything in the store!

I have the latest in my collection of templates for you today.  Temptations 6 feature lots of lovely clusters along with some great paper layers that really help you fill out your page.

You may have heard by now that our beloved Ru of Studio Basic Designs lost her husband earlier this week.  We wanted to do something to help her out.  The SSD designers and several more from other shops joined together and have created this beautiful collab, Forever, for her.  This is a massive collection, and one you’ll definitely want in your stash!

Forever Fundraiser

Good morning!  I’m here in your inbox to tell you about a fundraiser collab that we’ve created for one of our own.  Robin said it best in her newsletter, so I’ll just give you the info in her words.  Please take a look, and if you’re able to help, please do.  <3

You may have heard the news late last week that our sweet Ru of Studio Basic lost her husband Di without warning in the early morning hours of January 20th in their home in Brazil. Di was her sunshine, the love of her life, a family man and a wonderful father, and now she’s facing a future without him by her side as a single mother.  When Ru began sharing her loss with our team and the community, we knew immediately that we wanted to help, and that’s why I’m here today to share a gorgeous collection with you that our team created with the help of designers from around the community who love Ru every bit as much as we do!

Forever is an absolutely stunning tribute to life, and love, and friendship and everything we hold near and dear to our hearts, and for as long as this collection is for sale, all of the proceeds from the sale of this collection will support Ru and her son Brian directly as part of her income…

There is so much more than pictured, but as you can see, this absolutely gorgeous effort is a massive collection of papers, elements, pocket cards, mixed media, and templates from our team of designers AND designers from around the digital scrapbooking community who wanted to do whatever they could to help a friend when she needed us most. In addition to our team of designers, Forever includes contributions from Allison Pennington, Dunia Designs, Little Butterfly Wings, Pink Reptile Designs, Rachel Jefferies, Shawna Clingerman, Designed by Soco, Tracy Martin, and Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs, and we are forever grateful for their help in supporting Ru.

Forever will be available starting NOW in our store, and it is our hope that with the support of the amazing scrappers from around our community who love Ru as much as we do, we’ll be able to give her a bit of time to grieve… to breathe… to find her strength… and begin putting one foot in front of the other again… and we thank you for being part of that special effort.
