Sunshine and summertime are two of my favourite things! Summer is a time when it’s okay to be a kid again. You can splash in the pool, run through a sprinkler, or even have a water fight… and nobody looks at you as though you’ve lost it! As adults, we don’t get many opportunities to just play, so take advantage of the moment and go have some Fun in the Sun!
Happy Camper
We love getting away in the summer months and getting back into nature. It’s always fun to explore new places and revisit beloved ones. I’ll admit though that I’m no longer willing to go camping in a tent… I’m not THAT fond of camping! We have a 5th wheel trailer with all the amenities… even a gas fireplace! I have no problem going somewhere for a few days without hook-ups. As long as the heater works when it’s cold, and I can use our trailer bathroom… I’m good. So maybe it’s more “glamping” than camping, but it counts, right?
Don’t forget to join us in the forum for our super Summer Scrap-a-thon! There’s a new challenge posted every other day, and the best part is that you have all summer to complete them! With different prize levels for how many you complete, there’s sure to be something for everyone! (PS, look for a challenge from me August 23rd!)
I was feeling a little crafty yesterday, so I decided to work on a new tiered tray kit… camping themed of course!
Happy crafting!
Snow Much Fun
While a lot of snow can be a major pain in the behind, it can also be totally awesome! (Apologies… the 80’s girl in me can’t help but sneak out from time to time!) Winter activities can be a whole lot of fun. Between snowball fights and building a snowman, to carving a path down a fresh snowfall on the mountain and the good ol’ hockey game… maybe it’s the Canadian girl in me, but I do love the winter sports!
This first one is my eldest daughter playing with my youngest about eight years ago… they had a grand time in the snow that day! It sure warmed my heart on that cold, but sunny, day.
I know many of you may have heard the heartbreaking news that yesterday our sweet Ru of Studio Basic Designs lost her husband suddenly, and is now facing her future without the man she loves by her side. If you are like us, you’re wondering how you might help, so I wanted to make sure you know that an incredible fundraising collab will be released on Tuesday, January 25th with all proceeds going to Ru and her son Brian. It is our hopes that this fundraiser shows her how much she is loved, and financially supports her for even a short time to give her the tiniest bit of time to grieve. If you want to join us in this effort, please watch your inbox on Tuesday for those details…
Oldies But Goodies… Adventure in the Woods
Take the Scenic Route
There’s no doubt that life takes us on some crazy adventures, with twists and turns that we can’t always foresee. Sometimes that’s a great thing, other times… not so much. We’re travelling in South Central British Columbia (the Okanagan) on our annual camping trip through wine country. This year has been an interesting one though, since large portions of our province have been devastated by wildfires. We get fires every summer, but this year is gearing up to be one of the worst in recorded history, and has largely been in populated areas. Approximately 40% of those have been human caused, including one fire that destroyed an entire town. We’re safe where we are, with smoky air being the worst of it, but others we know haven’t been so lucky. Family and friends have had to evacuate from their homes, and one couple has lost their home entirely to the fire. We even have some four-legged friends that have been temporarily re-located to our place to keep them safe. This week’s collection has been inspired by these events, although I did want to focus on the good that can come from life’s surprises, rather than the bad. The woods and orange tones are my little homage to the fires. Stay safe out there, my friends!
